I'm not trying to spend a lot of money, but I also want a decent gaming PC (that can run the newer, more demanding kind of games). My current computer is dying, so I'm going to build a new one.

I wanted to ask: have you got any suggestions for a good build, or specific parts? I'm pretty okay with choosing ram and the like, but I need advice on the CPU, Video Card, Motherboard and such.

what's your price range?

I'm going to purchase either an opteron 165/170, an ASUS A8N32 Deluxe Mobo, and a eVGA Geforce 9700gt KO
which prices between $800-$900 on new egg

Eh, I don't really have a price range. I was going to base my decision on what I should spend on how much the decent parts cost - or, until I see a few good builds that I can compare the prices to.

built two , prices include VAT
diffrences - the first have athlon 64 3800 dual core processor & 250gb hd , the second have athlon 64 3700 single core processor & 160gb hd , the video card is very good although there are better

i'd take the price cut and go with a MSI K8n neo4-F, i doubt your gonna be needing the DFI for VERY ADVANCED overclocking. and then add that money to get a 7900GT to build #1 and thats all you will need.

you shouldn't save cash on the GPU when building a gaming PC, so go for a san diego core 3700 or something in its price range and get a 7900GT

Jeremy's first build looks very nice for the price, but if you want to spend a little more for extra performance go with a 7900GT instead of a 7600GT as said already.

That's my two cents.
