Newegg has a 72-hour sale running right now on select items. The Core i5-760 is included in that. I can get it for $179.99 with free shipping. I am going to buy that right now I think. I can afford that right now without my refund from the laptop.

This Samsung optical drive is also available for $16.99 w/ free shipping.
Newegg.com - SAMSUNG Black 22X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X DVD+R DL 22X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA DVD Burner LightScribe Support - CD / DVD Burners

Is that sufficient?

If so, I will buy both of these now, which will save me ~$35 on the CPU and optical combined.

For basically the same price, theres an xfx 5830 which is better than the 5770 and a 460 slightly.

Newegg.com - XFX HD-583X-ZAFV Radeon HD 5830 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card w/ Eyefinity

Bro, you're going from a 260 to a 460? You know that is like going from your 260 to a 285? The performance of those two cards is pretty much the same. If I were you, I'd go with something more powerful or you will be disappointed in the performance jump you get for laying down a grand.

May I suggest:

Newegg.com - ASUS ENGTX470/2DI/1280MD5 GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card $220 After MIR
Newegg.com - XFX HD-687A-ZNFC Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity $220 After MIR
Newegg.com - XFX HD-587X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5870 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity $240 After MIR
Newegg.com - DIAMOND 6950PE52G Radeon HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity $280 After MIR

Or you could redo your build and get this combo:
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!

with this gpu:
Newegg.com - EVGA 015-P3-1580-AR GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 1536MB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Comes out to $1001 after MIR. I guess you still gotta throw down $20 for a dvd drive, but this will give you the best single gpu card on the planet.

Well, I really won't be able to compare the two computers because I sold my previous desktop about 1 year ago. I have been running gaming laptops ever since, so the performance increase will be huge already. My old desktop would kill the gaming laptops I've been on...

It would be different if I still had my GTX 260. I would keep it for a while instead of upgrading to a GTX 460. I am building from scratch, and I can't buy a GTX 285, so I will have to get the GTX 460...I can't afford the GTX 470.

I can't see spending $500 on a GPU even if I could get everything for ~$1,000. Also, I hate the fancy blue lights on the case, and that CPU is only dual-core.

Thanks for the input, though.
