Building First Computer

My current desktop is starting to get dated and i decided that I would like to buy and build my own pc. Here is my list so far, not sure if I'm missing anything

• Case-Ultra M998 40069 $130-170
• Mobo- GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX $140
• Processor- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz 8mb cache, 1066MHz FSB
• HDD- SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s $100
• CD/DVD- Lite-on LH20A1S CD/DVD (R/RW+ etc) x2 $40 each
• Ram- Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 x2 $140
• Power Supply- XCLIO X14S4P3 ATX12V 500W Power Supply $80
• GPU-ZOTAC GeForce 880GT 512 GDDR3 230
• Sound Card- Razer Barracuda AC-1 (Already have)

You want to spend 300$ on a power supply? Thats Fine.
But this one is more than enough.

If you would like to save some money then don't go with SLI graphics. one card is all you really need. Then you won't need a 1K power supply either. I am only using one card and can play any game on the market with no problems on all high setting.

Get 1, 8800GTS 512MB (G92), but it costs around $300 I believe and plus some.

• CD/DVD- 2 Lite-on LH20A1S CD/DVD (R/RW+ etc) $40 each
• Ram- 4 gig Corsair TwinX pc6400 DDR2
• Power Supply- Ultra X3 ULT40064 1k Watt $300-340 (The ram and PS are a package deal)
• GPU- 2 EVGA GeForce 8600GT 256mb SLI Ready GDDR3 $80-110 Each
• Sound Card- Razer Barracuda AC-1 (Already have)

You don't need SLI...one 8800GT as was said will destroy 2 8600GT's. That power supply is COMPLETE overkill. It could run SLI Ultra's and like 8 hard drives and a quad most likely. You will only need something like a Corsair 550VX.

2Gb is enough for XP gaming and and you are doing Vista then just buy 2 sets.

I've redone the list and taken the suggestions, is there anything that I am missing? My next question concerns the GPU mentioned above. I will need to get a motherboard that supports PCI Express 2.0 port, correct?
