So I've been out of the building loop for a while now. My buddy has $500 for a computer and I could use some advice. He already has a burner, case and hard drive so he just needs the cpu, motherboard, ram and video card. How would you guys maximize the $500 budget? I was trying to make the i5 work but I don't know if I see that happening. Give it your best shot!

Obviously ncix price matching

You should be able to do $500 for an i5, albeit not a 2500k/3570k

I'd go for a i5 3450 for bout $200
8 gigs of ram
$100 mobo
And the best gpu you can

Yeah, that combo should work, now sure how I skimmed over it. $500 is a good budget, but canadian taxes eat away at a lot of that. Essentially I have around $440 to work with. Good thing I get cheap OSs.

It was the bundle deal on the top of the turkey day flier.

I forget how far you are from the store, but ncix shipping is pretty decently priced, and fast.

Don't forget to shopbot.ca the rest of the stuff.

I just found out that memoryexpress now price BEATS by 25%. They have h100s on for 89.99 right now!
