Theres only a couple decent g.skill kits that will do that though. I think if you're gonna go i7, you should go triple-channel and get some nice ram for not that much more. The OCZ Platinums are about $100 for 6gb ddr3 1600 and great timings. You can't really go wrong there.

The g.skill kits i found were 4gb ddr3 1333 @1.65v for about $60
 
I just looked up some reviews. I would have thought that using dual channel would have slowed it down significantly but obviously not, so i guess he could go the route, it will save him about $35. Not really a huge saving but when your on a budget sometimes you have to sacrifice.
