Default Build Me a Computer Please!

I'm going to get a new computer, and my budget is probably around $1000, give or take 1 or 200 solely for the tower. I was wondering if you guys could help me put something together from newegg. This computer would be primarily for gaming (WoW, SC2, and hopefully D3 and other games!)

Things I'd recommend:

CPU: Core i7 920/930 LGA1366 CPU

RAM: 6GB (3x 2GB) DDR3 RAM

Graphics: Radeon 58xx or GeForce GTX470/GTX480, most likely a Radeon because of your price range.

I'd recommend Gigabyte's GA-X58A-UD3R motherboard as it is relatively cheap ($209 for SATA3/USB3 and ultra durable design) and very nice. Anything from Gigabyte or Asus would work great, there are plenty of other good motherboard manufacturers too. Just look for LGA1366 for i7 920/930 compatibility.

As for graphics I really like my Radeon HD 5870, but the card costs $380 upwards (mine was $420) so if you can't stretch your budget go for a Radeon HD 5850 or 5830, if not that you can look at the 5770.

Case really depends on your budget and personal preference, I like the looks of the Antec Nine Hundred but if $100 is too much for a case, I also think Rosewill makes good cases (my server is a newer Rosewill design, cost under $50 and still a really nice case for the price).

ill agree with Calc, try to get a 58xx series graphics card and an i7 920 if you can get your hands on one. if you cant, go with an i7 930...

also go with at least a 700Watt power supply...

if he got an i7 9xx build, the cpu and mobo alone would take up like half his budget.

you should be able to get a phenom ii quad build with maybe a 5850 with your budget, and then if you still have some money to work with, see if you can squeeze in a 5870 or swap the cpu (and mobo) out for an i5 750.

edit: here's one build, totals $1,057 + $10 shipping on the case.

pii x6 1055t + gigabyte ga-890gpa-ud3h
xfx 5850 + g.skill ripjaws ddr3 1600 cas7
lian li pc-k58 + seagate 500gb
antec ea750w
ocz vertex ssd 30gb
lite on cd/dvd burner

i don't know if an OS is also to be included in this budget or not. if it is, it's +$100 for win7 home premium.

I agree with Muffin. You could probably squeeze a i7 920 system into your budget but you would be buying the very cheapest (and not just in price) parts. And when you look at the users having problems with the i7 most of them have the "economical" mobo and/or ram, power supply.

You could probably go with the i5 750 but the PII X6 1055 is pretty impressive.
