Thanks for the input, I will ask her what she really would like to do.

so i was just curious about this so i went to newegg and selected the cheapest possible EVERYTHING (not including refurbished parts and barebones) I selected the cheapest case, HD, monitor, mobo, op drive, psu, 3 in one speaker/keyboard/mouse, RAM, Processor, OS. To make the cheapest possible working POS system, which wasnt even as good as that dell, and the total was $405 shipped (not including tax which you might have if newegg has property in your state)... so i dont know how you guys are talking about being able to build computers for 200 dollars that would be the same/better than that dell...?

in any case, yeah, ask her exactly what she will want to be able to do and how much she can spend... it might turn out that a more expensive system might be better for her situation, in which case everything could change...
