Hello, I am new to the forums but not new to the computer world. Please stick with me, kinda behind the ball on new technology, in the Navy submarine force and only get to read some magazines every one and a while to stay current. Finally heading back home for a couple weeks and friend wants me to build him up a computer for $2000. He wants to be able to record TV shows on it, Gaming and Misc.

Questions I have areÂ…
-Worth running like 2 MSI NX7600 with only 12pixelframes or just run a 256 with 24?>
-He wants to be able to record TV shows so input needed, Will VIVO be able to do that?

I think you need to have a tv capture card like the ati all in one wonder. Im not sure if VIVO will work or not though.

Yes, that was my first thought, but would prefer to roll with Nvidia on this build over ATI. Any options to install another card in a pci slot to compensate for this feature?

1700 as of now (without shipping)... you can make tweaks of course :)

Hmm, that seems like a lot for the CPU fan and the case.

If you have a few weeks to wait before ordering you may wanna go conroe. A few weeks because there's not a lot of quality but affordable motherboards out yet, not to mention low stock at most sites right now.

Yes, But Im a big AMD fan. Plus I dont think I can run a Conroe build to still stay within this budget, and still keep all the other goodies that I would like.
