Hey everyone.

I'm trying to build as powerful a machine as I can possibly get for £650 ($1200) (periphirals aren't needed, but I wouldn't mind a decent TFT monitor if I had money to spare), mainly for gaming.

Here's what I have so far, I'm sure you guys could help improve it greatly though:

-Processor: Intel Pentium D 805 Smithfield Core 2x2.66 GHz 1MB x 2 Click
-Memory: Corsair 1GB Kit (2 x 512MB) DDR2, PC4200, 533 MHz Click
-Hard drive: Seagate ST3120813AS 120GB SATA II 7200rpm 8MB Cache - OEM Click
-Graphics Card: Asus Nvidia 7600GT 256MB DDR3 Click
-Mother Board: Asrock PCI-E DDR2 533 SATA II uATX On Board VGA Click
-Optical Drive: Sony DWQ-120AB 16x16x4 DVD±RW Dual Layer DVD Writer OEM Click
-Monitor: 17" Daewoo HL720AD Black/Silver Clearview TFT1280x1024 8 ms Click
-Case & PSU: XION II Black(Green LED) Steel Mid Tower Gaming Case Click
-Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2 OEM Single

Total: £541 ($1010)

Tried my best to make sure it's all compatible...what do you think? If it's terrible, I'll change it all completely. :)

Don't get Pentium D for dual core. Get Core 2 Duo. For C2D, you should get a C2D supported motherboard and some DDR2800 (PC26400) ram. Try and get a separate PSU. Cases that come with PSUs are unreliable. Brands to look at for PSUs: Antec, OCZ, FSP Group, etc.
