Buddy came to me asking for help. He has a pretty small budget and is planning on using some old parts from his current computer, to put together a new one (Hard Drive, CD drive).

I was looking around at the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2000MHz HT Socket 939, and noticed that all of the mother boards only support 1000MHz HT... Since I built my computer a couple months back, I've been out of the loop a bit, and was wondering what's the deal with this? No 2000MHz HT mobo's? Or am I just blind?

Here's the CPU:

Thanks for the help in advance.

the HT gives you the 2000... but I would go with the 3800 x2 and save couple of bucks. the L2 Cache is the same andf he can just OC it to the 4200 specs.

He's not huge into computers, so he probably wouldn't be doing any OCing. But I'll prolly tell him to go with the 3800 x2.

Almost forgot to pick out a video card for him! LOL. The most important part! :p
