ok as i stated before, my b-day is arriving shortly. i already got my 2nd gts, so now i am actually looking for a cpu that can make use of them (mine cant lol).
i was considering the q6700 and an MSI p7n.
then, i was considering the 9850 and 750a.
now i am considering both.
and i am considering if i need 8x or 16x pcie lanes while using SLI.
i would like a 780a or 780i board, but they are kind of expensive.
what kind of performance hit am i looking at using 8x lanes (both 750 mobos have them) in SLI versus the 16x of the 780 boards?
anyone find me some decent, in depth specs on the pcie lane differences with high-end cards? seems like i saw some somewhere, but it was with like 7900gs or something. and i would like some good stuff, not, "dude, you aint gonna notice the difference at all" with nothing to back up a statement like that. i would look for myself, but i have to go back to the salt mines for a bit.
if there is little to no hit, i'll probably drop the cash for the phenom. i like AMD better anyway. surprise surprise.
