ok i was asking because the hs is clocked a bit higher on core and mem.... so i didn't know
 
Well, a "GT" is designed to be one step above a "GS". However, the better clocks in the GS card will bring it very close to the GT (if you keep the stock settings). So it's really a though call.

However, if you consider the $40 difference (when the rebate is included), then maybe buying the GS will give you more bang for your buck.

It's not easy. That 7900GS has really improved clocks. If you compare it to the non-OCed 7900GT he posted, then it's a tough call: the 7900GT will still beat the 7900GS, but the margin will be so small that the $40 price difference might make the GS a better choice.

If you want pure performance over performance/cost ratio, though, then go with the 7900GT. With some overclock it will definitely be better than that GS.
