having some very bad problems with a recent build of mine, i can't even make it through windows installation... i keep getting BSOD, first my specs.

epox nf4 sli
3000+ venice
e-vga 6600gt
winxp pro(not able to install)
quantum 20gb fireball hd/samsung 160gb
xp-120 heatsink

i receive a kernel_data_inpage_error every time when it gets about halfway through windows installation. ive tried disabling multiple options in bios, best i can get it to do is give a plug and play error detected... ive chkdsk'ed the drive, and unplugged everything but hd/vga/cpu no luck at any point... anyone have any ideas? here is some more info from the BSD incase it helps.

i've tried fixing it for 2 days now with no luck. anything you guys can think of would be appreciated.

u might have a bad ram chip have u tried other sticks?

u almost might want to try flashing the bios cos it might be the problem (doubt it but might help)

i have installed windows on this 20gig before. i have tried ram that i know works(used it for 4 months in another system). using just one stick in first slot i have tried 4 different sticks... i can't find my non-usb floppy drive so i can't flash it yet unfortunately... but ill try that if no good anytime soon im gonna send it all back(cept for drives cause ive had em for a while)... really pissing me off.

as for my 160 gig, it wont let me install windows to it at all, even when i format a 30 gig partition on it, it tells me the partition is not windows-ready or whatever... wont let me install it at all on the drive, even on already present ntfs partitions. i have another 80 gig lying about somewhere i guess i can try thanks for fast responses guys.

Ok use one cable having the 160 as master and the CD-ROM as slave. Boot from the XP cd and have windows format it using NTFS itself (usualy quick is the best) and that should fix the HD problem. As for the other problem, could be many things. Could be bad cd-rom, bad cd, bad ram, or something in that matter. I dont think its the setup personaly, just an error w/ programing somewhere.
