Best Video Card for my Asus P5B Deluxe Motherboard?

So after much research, I have decided on purchasing a good Graphics Card to replace my 8800GTS for a performance increase/graphic increase.

What is best high end graphics card that I could see the biggest peformance/graphic increase with that is compatible with my P5B Deluxe mobo?

I am thinking about purchasing the eVGA GTX 260. This is the first time I have upgraded my GPU. I am assuming I will see big gains in the Graphic Department, but how much of a FPS increase will I see. Will it be a dramatic increase?

Also, how does this card compare the GTX 280? Would it be worth the extra money for the 280?

that's from our graphic card list. Really the 4870x2 is the best card out there but is out of your price range. the 4850x2 is your next best bet for 300 and under. The gtx280 can be found for a bit more depending on the brand and such, but can offer decent performance increases but with a 22" that probably isn't even putting out 1080p resolutions, any of the top 7 cards will be able to max out your games.

So if the 4850x2 and the GTX 280 are relatively the same price - which one would you pick for max. performance?
