Default Best Vidcard for playing video in 1080p?

Hello forumers, i am looking to buy a machine mostly for playing my 1080p videos, as well as some gaming, and general use. I have most of the build down so far:

q6600
2gb Crucial Balistix
Gigabyte p35
etc

But i was wondering, which card is currently the BEST for playing 1080p videos? I really want to play it flawlessly. I'll also be doing some gaming on this machine. I've heard (and read) GREAT things about the 8800gt and HD playback, but is it really as good as i think it is?

Can you play 1080p videos on a 1680 x 1050 screen?

I havent really tried playing any high def movies on mine. where can you download an hd 1080p clip just to see if your computer can run it?

Edit:

Nevermind, found some....

WMV HD Content Showcase

Downloading the "The Discoverers" right now hehe

2.5 minute video takes 150mb
