I just put together my new system. It is Antec P-180 case, Antec TP-II 550 P/S, Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe MB, Athlon X2 4400+ CPU, Corsair 1 GB XMS 2-2-2-5 memory, ATI X1900XT Video, Maxtor SATA-150 300 GB drive, CD and floppy. My sad story is that I discovered the hard way that the Antec NEO HE 550 P/S will not power on with Asus motherboards. I switched to the Antec TP-II 550 P/S. With the case closed, the P/S overheats and shuts down in a couple of hours. It comes back on in about an hour. I checked all the case fans and they are OK. The CPU is always under 50 DEG C and the MB is under 40 DEG C. I think the P/S internal fans may not be doing their job. I figure my system is drawing no more than 350 watts now. I hoped to add a second ATI X1900XT card, but that will make the P/S situation worse. Can somebody tell me what the highest power, most robust ATX power supply is out there? My system has potential, but I need to get this problem fixed before I start tuning it.
