is the accelero s1 still the best for the price?

It is, but you should know that the HD 4850's cooler is really good, just that its at a low speed at stock...

You should consider doing the fan hack

I don't think you even need to use the fan hack anymore.

I have a 4670, and when I updated my drivers a few days ago, my updated CCC had a manual fan speed control built right in, under the overdrive section. Works very nicely.

I don't know about that.. I don't own one.. but HD 4670 came after the HD 4850 (in tersm of release date)

The 8.10 drivers allow manual fan control on the 4850.

This 4850 has one of the better coolers of the 4850's, right?

Yeah that cooler is pretty good even at stock fan speed.

You dont need the fan hack anymore. And i would put it at 100%, but the noise is ridiculous
