This build is on the PC Gamer, PC Building Bible 2007 Magazine. Its apparently the best $1400 build out there. Mainly because it is simple to upgrade later on.

$250

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
$167

$140

$125

Grand Total: $1,385

wow...That's nothing near the best $1400 build. I can make a better one for the money:

Case - Cooler Master 690 $70
Moobo - Abit IP35 Pro $184
CPU - Q6600 $280
RAM - 2GB Patriot Extreme Performance $102
GFX - EVGA 8800GTS 320MB $290
PSU - PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610w $130
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB $80
Optical - Sony NEC Optiarc SATA DVD Burner $32
OS - Windows XP Pro $140

Total: A little over $1300

Well the case is a waste of cash, the harddrive would break after a month, as maxtor are just seagates which didn't pass the quality test and the power supply is over the top even with upgrades in mind.

The antec true power trio is known to have issues with consistency on the 12V rails so not very well reccomended. Why would you want an E6300 when the E6320 is virtually the same price. Cpu fan and thermal paste needed to maximise processor. No point getting windows Xp pro as media-centre as the same ability with some extra aesthetics thrown in. The EVGA graphics card is usually cheaper and due to upgradeability you can use the 90 day trade in. 2gb of ram would be needed for best performance gaming

actujally paying over 100 for the 900 is a waste when you can find a deal like every few weeks for it for like $80.
i would also go with what was listed for you above with the quad core. I'm running that system and all i can say is WOW... anyways u might want to get the tuniq tower 120 for cooling that beast. also u can get the 500gb for around $99 most days.
