Sightseeing? There's one thing in India that I'd want to see, the Taj Mohal.

Culture? More like poverty.

This is much too politcal, I'm done with this post.

They are overstating their case. Notice they are extrapolating their long term predictions and that none of those predictions have been tested.

That technology is not that stable, prone to data errors, subject to data loss, and far less tolerant than traditional DVDs. Just turn up or turn down the heat enough to kill bacteria and all your data is gone. Don't leave it on the dash in your car during a heat wave or snow storm that's for sure. They took a neat step but that's all it is at this point.

I can see applications for this new technology; however, when it becomes resilient and stable enough in carefully controlled server environments. Of course that alone would be enough to make them all quite wealthy.

Would be very cool if they got it to work.
Holy jesus thats insane!!! Why dont they modify the DNA to make it last forever? Now pair this with that holographic storage, and you have a disc with 10 layers, each layer holding 50 TB!!!

Thats like having all of space for a garage lmao. In turn...how FAST would they read? That's a LOT of information to sift through.

Can you imagine the potentials for creating digital projects though? paired with the advancement of graphics and cpus, games could be made into limitless "worlds" with endless detail, in both texture and 3-d modelling. The more space used though the more time will have been spent on the games creature though....

Ummmm....you spelled "Taj Mahal" wrong. That only proves my point.

But....back on topic....yeah, technology advances pretty quickly. And there are a lot of people doing innovative things with it. [motherly voice] My, they grow up so fast![/motherly voice]

But back in the day, the amount of ram we had was still COMPARABLE to 2 gigs. Maybe you had 1 gig or 512mb so its not that great of an upgrade, but 50 TERABYTES?! That is a rediculous jump; the largest HD right now can hold 750GB (and I doubt anyone here could find a use for that much space -- nonwithstanding pornography).

Yeah, thank you. After reading this thread and being Indian, I have lost respect for quite a few TF members.
