gah, im not liking this, now they're going into 3xxx model numbers without any significant leap in technology, that'll be pretty dissappointing and confusing

What I'm hearing is that it's simply an R600 die shrink with 256-bit memory interface (apparently a 512-bit interface was overkill), so it'll probably perform like an 2900XT but consume less energy and will cost less, although the 2900PRO has already presented a solution as far as cost is concerned, time will tell I guess, I have more hope for the 8800GT and I'm starting to get sick of ATI and their skimpy, unstable drivers and inferior warranties... if eVGA made ATI cards, maybe that'd be a different story...

Why not?

Heat wont be a problem. I will have a double loop(water) in my new rig. I have already started building it.

is a single 8800gt in a pci-e x16 lane when fully overclocked expected to beat the 8800gts and 2900pro overclocked?
