For a card that is 6 months behind and have inferior performance. I think this is a big disappointment for ATI fanboys.

Driver problems can be fixed at anytime........

you and your fanboy fetish...get over it man.

the 8800GTX is overclocked in that test while the x2900XTX is stock, if your gonna be comparing video cards, compare stock to stock.

Also this is just the x2900, ATI always makes cards with a 50 (x2950) with all the bugs fixed, we will see if that happens.

Seriously, someone link to this press conference where ATI said they can't compete in front of 150 journalists.

And for those that feel like Whining, the OC wasn't that big, and while yes, it did affect the test, it doesn't make THAT big of a difference. I'd like to see the numbers at full quality, 16X AA, AF and such. Would still prolly lose, but may make a difference.

While the X2900XTX may not be as great as was expected, the X2900XT doesn't do a bad job...

DailyTech's X2900XT review.

The 8800GTS is a great card for the price in itself, something that's better than it for a comparable price should sell well, even if the top of the line model is a waste.

I'd like someone to post the link to the text from the press conference too.

By the way -- I haven't been on here in forever. How're you supposed to post URLs now? I had to quote someone and copy the code...

I love this. Everyone gives there own opinions and when both cards are actually released 95% of the people are wrong anyway lol. Just wait and see. Compare stock to stock, oc to oc. In a month we will know all.

of course i never said anything about the x2900xtx being better than the 8800GTX, all I'm saying is just think back to grade 5 science and learn to do a fair test.

I want to show that faster memory speed barely makes any difference. And thats why 2900XTX barely beats 2900XT
There is a HUGE difference between the GDDR4 in the 1950XTX's and the HD2900XTX's. The GDDR4 on the 1950XTX's was 1900MHz-2100Mhz, The GDDR4 on the HD2900XTX will be the newest samsung chips that operate anywhere from 2600Mhz - 2800Mhz.

When you're talking about HUGE resolutions, this is were the HD2900XTX will blow the 8800GTX or Ultra out of the water.

1024x768 & 1280x1024 is out of the question with the HD2900XTX. If you only have a 19 or 20 inch monitor then stick to the HD2900XT it will be more then enough and at a great price.

First: The memory speed of HD2900XTX is not 2600Mhz - 2800Mhz, it is only 2020MHz

Second: According to the benchmarks in dailytech, the 8800GTX was blowing HD2900XTX out of water, even at huge resolution...

Third: HD2900XTX might be delayed to June, however HD2900XT will not be delayed....

From where did you get this conclusion ?

In the benchmarks, 8800GTX was beating the HD2900XTX at 1920x1200. And if you know 1920x1200 is a huge resolution...

So, no you are very wrong...

Love how that article links to another one in which ATI states it's 2900XT is to perform at GTS level, and that the XTX is "Suffering Severe Performance Issues" and is being delayed because of this.

So what's the point of testing the card if ATI is acknowledging it had some unexpected problems and is pushing it back to fix em?
Quote:
We know that something went wrong with the samples and that the there were some severe performance problems with the latest batch of GDDR 4 cards. Basically 512 MB DDR3 version with 1600 MHz memory was beating the GDDR4 version with 1024 MB of GDDR 4 memory clocked at 2200 MHz.
So testing an obviously broken card vs an overclocked of the competitor. Weee! The real question is, can ATI fix it and keep on the rest of it's schedule for the next card.
