what nvidia card can you compare the 4850 to because im thinking of getting the 4850 mainly because its cheap especially this one ive seen

Scan.co.uk: 512MB Palit HD4850, PCI-E 2.0(x16), 1986MHz GDDR3, GPU 625MHz, 800 Cores, 2x DL DVI-I/ HDTV, HDCP

a 9800GTX+ is comparable. almost the same performance.

I would get the 4850. There is no reason to pay more for similar performance.

so if the 4850 compares to the 9800 what does the 4870 compare to concluding that both of them have the same clock speed and mem and cpu i think

the 4870 is comparable to a GTX 260 core 216. if you have the dough i would get a GTX 260 core 216

yeah but 4800 series has got 800 cores compared to nvidias 200 series 200 cores

meh. the stream processors between ati and nvidia cant be compared. the nvidia SP do more things than ati's SP. so thier 800 is equal to about 192 SP of nvidia.

You can't compare it like that.. they work different ways... get which one is better for hte price..

GTX 260 Core 216 = HD 4870
9800GTX+ = HD 4850
9800GTX < HD 4850

But only by a few frames, but its worth to know if you can get a cheap 1GB version.
