Athlon 64 Or Athlon X2

ok im biuldinf a computer and im reading post for a gaming computer and they pretty much all say that a athlon 64 3000 or w/e speed is a good buy but the athlon x2 is a better procesor (faster) so i was wandering if the x2 would be a waste of money and speed. or if there is alot of games that would require a x2. i dont want to be limited but if a 64 keeps me playing only one or two games ill save my money and go with a 64. lemme know what your think

THe X2 is certainly not a waste of money. On the contrary, you probably get more for your money than the Athlon 64.

The problem is atm, its not that games require X2s, its that barely any games support them. However, in the future, games will support them and there will be a big difference between the performance on a dual core compared to a single core, so if you are building a system now, it would be a good idea to buy an X2 to future proof it.
