Question ASUS K8N mobo Northbridge question

I've ordered 2 ASUS K8N SLI mobos now for 2 different computer builds and I noticed that on the first one there was a heatpipe to a passive copper fin array for Northbridge cooling but on the second one there is a small electric fan on the Northbridge. I know it's a minor issue but I'm curious if anyone would know why there is a difference? Thanks all!!

My guess is price. To save money on mass production, the fan would be less expensive than the heatpipe. They would still sell them at the same price, and it more of a profit for ASUS.
