pulling some serious crap. They say Conroe is to be such a great processor and all, yet all that's occured in the past few months has really raised suspicions. First, I've read they've been having problems with the chips, period. Next, the EE that was said to run at 3.33Ghz has been toned down to 2.97 (~3.0Ghz). To finish it off, Intel has not allowed any third party site to use the Conroe chips in their own builds, all the setups have been orgranized and "optimized" by Intel. After all these Intel vs. AMD wars, it's now fair to say that in gaming Intel's Conroe chips have somewhere between a 10%-30% performance lead, but that was under Intel's control (okay, so they used third-party sites as puppets). I think that Intel is definitely holding something back, as the expected Conroe release date grows nearer, they seem to be panicking.
Now I'm not saying that Conroe will be a complete failure an let down, but for the past few months they have been basically praising it and trying to get people excited about it, and they seem very confident it will suceed. So why not allow these sites to use the chips in their own reviews, that aren't as biased and/or controlled. I know for sure this is definitely a reason why I'll wait until they are officially released, and the benchmarks/comparisons are re-evaluated and compared against AMD's current offering. I really would'nt be shocked to disover that Conroe really doesn't stack up that great against AM2 as everyone expected.
Opinions?
