Would the Audio-Technica ATH-A700 work ok without an amp.

Also will they give good positional sound when gaming,,,,kind of like surround sound?

I will be getting an X-FI Xtreme gamer sound card

lol - yeah... well i'm a leet DJ.

Actually.. I do really like them, but If I were in the market for a new pair of headphones, I'd go with an open pair. mainly because I do a lot of talking while gaming or talking on vent and It's touch to hear my own voice sometimes... Yeah, I can hear it vibrating through my skull, but it's not the same.

Probably what "003" is referring too.

lol - I get up out of my chair to leave my computer and practically wank my headphones off my head.

So... Yeah.. The 280's are comfortable and I don't even notice they are there either. I've never wore or listen to the ATHA700's so I can't comment on them.
