What I have picked out so far

Motherboard
DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR Socket 939

Processor
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+

Memory
G.SKILL Extreme Series 2GB (2 x 1GB)

Hard Drive
Western Digital Raptor WD740GD 74GB 10,000 RPM

Heatsink
ZALMAN CNPS9500 LED 92mm

Power Supply
Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 ATX12V

Optical Drives
ASUS Black 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM
NEC Black 16X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X
SONY Black 1.44MB 3.5" Internal Floppy

Looking for reccomendations in general. I know I need a tower, wasn't sure what to get. I don't do any LAN parties, but still want it to be kind of pretty. Possibly looking for a different RAM, I know I need a videocard, but the 7900's in the ~350 dollar price range are backordered, looking for a suggestion on what to get. Is there anything missing from my build? I have a keyboard and monitor picked out too but did not bother to link. Price as sits is ~1100, so I need a case, video card, and sound card. Would like to not break 1500, but a little more is ok.

I know you guys see these threads all the time, but thanks for looking and any help you give.

That looks like a good setup. For a case i would either buy the Antec P180 (very slick) which got very good reviews from various places

or the Thermaltake Tsunami which is the case i have which also got very good reviews

The best sound card out at the moment is the Creative Sounblaster X-Fi Fatality and the price for it isnt to bad either.

The RAM you have chosen should be fine.

Hope this helps.

do you have another storage drive? if not, dump the raptor and get yourself a 250 gig SATA or something... raptors are overrated in my opinion

Well, I Plan on using RAID 0 eventually but probably not yet. When I do I am going to get 250 gig S-ATA or something similar.
You don't think I will notice much of a difference?

Thank you for the recommendations Mentali$T, I picked the Tsunami case that you suggested. As for the sound card, I don't think I am quite ready to pay 300 dollars for one

Yeah the Tsunami is great case. LOL didnt realise the soundcard was so expensive sorry about that one but i suggest getting a creative sound card they probably the best.

For a case get the Thermaltake Tsunami: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811133132
for sound get the Creative X-Fi Extreme music:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102188
and my best advice for videocard is put yourself on auto-notify for eVGA 7900gt, there will be a shitload of them coming in this week (end of march-beginning of april): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130281

and good luck with your build :), should be sweet, dont forget to post benchmarks and pics when your done

oh, and do you have speakers picked out? i would reccomend either these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836121126
or a good headset (great with x-fi) like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16826159413

That is remarkable, those speakers are the exact ones I have in my cart. Thanks a bundle for all the help everyone

No offense to the post above but in my opinion buy a midi tower not full. Yes they are more roomy but they are way too big. you just dont need it and will make your pc look too empty. Stick with the Tsunami. oh and the best motherboard out at the moment is the Asus A8R32 MVP deluxe which i bought last week. it doesnt support SLi but does support crossfire (which i think is better as you dont need the exact same cards for them to work together) The pci-e slots are X16 each too.
