Default AMD processors

so what's the difference between the AMD processors (ie. sempron, athlon...etc)

I'm looking at buying a processor for a cheap gaming build this summer and i dont' know what to go with.

Athlon 64 is what you want. Can either get a single core or dual core depending on your budget.

From what you have given us them the AMD 64 X2 range is generally recommended.

or intel conroe. itll beat AMD by this summer. (not exactly sure when it comes out) not sure the price range either but you might wanna check it out.

If going for a CHEAP gaming build, go for the Athlon 64 3700+. Its only a single core, but it a great performer for its price, and it overclocks pretty well too.

Indeed. Decent benchmarks DO NOT relieve it of the fact that it's still an Intel. >.>
