EDIT: the price drops on the intel line doesnt happen until the Core 2 Duo arrives.
Yes best to wait for Conroe but if you have to get a processor now by god do not get an Intel anything that is not a Core 2 Duo from Intel will be owned by any AMD Processor. Conroe is cheaper and better than AMD best to wait.

Any possibility you can have it ship to where you'll be living while at college? And I'm sure if you order it in the last week of July, it'll get in before August 12. If you're ordering on Newegg, it'll be pretty fast.

Also, if you don't feel like upgrading your 775 motherboard to a conroe compatible one, after the conroe comes out all those pentium D 9XX series processors will cheap as ****.

The current motherboards cost so much because they are top of the line intel boards that werent actually made for conroe processors, but with a voltage mod or something are able to run them. When Core2 Duo comes out, along with the motherboards that actually support it, there will be motherboards for any budget.
