Default AMD Phenom II X4 920 2.8GHz Question

Hi,

So I'm thinking about building a pc and was wondering if I should wait or go ahead and purchase a AMD Phenom II X4 920 2.8GHz?

Newegg.com - AMD Phenom II X4 920 2.8GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops

Is it one of the best processor out there atm? and what would be a decent motherboard to purchase with this cpu?

Other thoughts? Also should I get a heatsink (not use the amd one)? I hear the quad runs hot?

Newegg.com - Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120mm "Core Contact Freezer" CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks

You should be able to attain 3.5ghz~ 24/7 with the listed heat sink.

I was hoping more of a discussion about the cpu and a good motherboard to go with it?

The 920 is a good processor. Here are some good motherboards for it:
Newegg.com - MSI KA780G AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards

Newegg.com - ASUS M3A78 Pro AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards

Newegg.com - BIOSTAR TFORCE TA790GX 128M AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards

Newegg.com - MSI DKA790GX AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards

Don't know how much you are trying to spend or if you're into overclocking.

Because i bought a core contact for my new build and it sucked.

The build quality is sub par, the fan is loud and it takes 10,000 pounds of pressure to get it on.

In my case, it would not fit on the mobo, the clip wasnt able to reach. So i ordered an s1284 (newer version of the s1283 i linked) and it looks and feels better, and went on easy.

My fan is quite, the fan on the acellero is louder. It could be the mobo, AM2 doesn't have the best mounting system. It could also be foxconn's fault. I have tried to install a cooler on a mobo that had the right socket and it wouldn't work because the manufacturer decided to **** up the mounting process.
