Default AMD mobo + cpu

A buddy wants to build a budget gaming rig and I wanted to get some opinions about AMD's. I only have experience with Intel's so how AMD's are rated is just askew to me. I would like something with comparable performance to an e6550, he doesn't need anything spectacular and he wont overclock (i already argued with him about that). I need to emphasize on the fact that he wont be overclocking so theres no need for headroom.

Here is a list of things I was throwing together, feel free to pick at it. (mind you this still includes intel cpu/mobo).

Ram: G.Skill 2GB 800mhz $80
Newegg.com - G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

Power: Rosewill 450W $40
Newegg.com - Rosewill Stallion Series Single 12cm Ball Bearing Fan RD450-2-SB ATX V2.2 450W Power Supply 115V/230 V UL, CSA, TUV, FCC - Retail

nice buid however im not familiar with the PSU brand.

AMD are good CPUS, they are generally cheaper than a Intel CPU for example if you were building a buget comp you would go for AMD. your freind is best of sticking with tht E6550 as it is probarbly better than the 6000+

What I mean is how big is the difference. Is there any substantial difference in architecture? The 8800GTX is a huge boon over the GTS, same series but one letter makes about a %40 performance increase. I am trying to knock off some top cash so he can buy a monitor if he wants.

IMO to save money go with the 5200+ you save money and it can run almost any game well really a 3800+ X2 would run almost any game with a gd gpu
