ive always used amd for gaming (and because they were always cheaper) but i've gone to intel to try them out. i really dont see much of a diff really. then again im not a hard core gamer though i do play games. everyone has their opinion best way to go is word of mouth or to see it for yourself with benchmarks or check your local pc store and try em out for yourself.

the gaming benchmark is what really matters but if you look around the rest of the article you will see it in other aspects.
9950 is ahead of Q6600 in all games except UTIII

by 2 frames. That isn't a $100 difference. It has a better price/performance ratio.

You'd be crazy to get that one over the retail one
Obviously, they haven't adjusted the price of the OEM model properly

Wow same price as the Q6600 OEM, well we can't say its more expensive anymore..

So what was the Phenom 9950 aimed at beating of Intel's?

If it will fit in you budget get the Q9550. It's better than the Phenom or q6600.

Q9550 Rocks!!

Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz 12MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops

But the price is not so much something you'd want to pay 330$ for. 330$ Q9550 vs 9950 Phenom? Yeah the Q9550 is well worth every penny. But who is willing to dish out an extra 140$ for the Q9550?
