im building my gaming rig in a few weeks, but im still debating on what kinda cpu to get...

amd athlon 64 3700 or the X2 3800

I know the x2 is dual core and all, but its 2 gigs whereas the 3700 is 2.4...i am also not going to overclock the cpu

so what do you guys think?

The 3700 is going to give yoyu the same amount of performance (if not better) in games and cost you less money. Unless you are doing video/audio editing or need a dual-core cpu specifically for something then I'd go with the Athlon 64 3700+

ATM, dual core isn't exactly used in gaming, but it will for sure in the future. You could always go with a 3200+ now and go dual core when socket AM2 is released.

if ur not going to multi-task, dont get multi-core.
Yea, yea ppl say new games will have multi processor support, but i honestly think the single processor will still do fine with those games.
