I'm going to Iraq sooner or later, and I'm going to need to get myself a computer that will last through my deployment and give me much pleasure and joy as an excelent gaming PC. Heres what I'm thinking. AMD/Nvidia machine.

looks great to me, but i'd also investigate some of the core 2 duos (if you can get your hands on one.) but with AM2 you can always upgrade with what AMD comes out with to counter conroe, so i guess it's all good.
 
well, if i were you i would either get the 4400+ or the 3800+ and over clock because the 4200+ has the samechache as the 3800+.

4400+ has l2 cache
 
Maybe.

Overclocking isnt so much of an issue. The desert heat is not kind to such things. I'll look into it though.
 
if there is going to be a sand storm, you might either
1. get some crazy fans that won't let anyhting get in the computer no matter what
2. water cooling
