AM2 Question...

Alright so right now i have an am2 motherboard. I was considering upgrading this motherboard and getting a new am2 board. My question is, will the current am2 boards be compatible with the next gen AMD CPU's? Like if i spend alot of money on a good boardnow would i be able to use it in the future when i upgrade to an am3 cpu?

or is the the otherway around? (only am2 cpus will be usable in am3 mobos but not vice versa)

AM3 CPUs will work in AM2 sockets.

soi take it that the AM3 will be compatible with am2 coolers, correct?

and what would the advantages of ddr3 memory be?
