I'm surprised no one has seen this on Anandtech.

When all four cores are at maximum load? I don't think so.

Besides, why are you comparing an architecture that was originally designed in 2003, with an architecture that was designed in 2006, when AMD's K10 processors are right around the corner?

E6550 and E6600 were better than 6000+ most of the time.
Most being roughly, 60% or so. And by a really small margin.

Yes I know that you will barely see any difference between these processors in real world performance, but there is no reason to recommend 6000+ when you can get E6550 for similar price. E6550 consume way much less power, and it will overclock way much better if you plan to overclock......
What if you already have an AM2 board?
Or what if you're planning on having a system ready for K10?

I'm talking to people who want to make a new build

If you buy Intel P35 motherboard then you can upgrade to intel upcoming 45nm processors

Let's not.
Why ?

Would someone buy a processor just to get high score 3dmark ?!!

What is the benefit of scoring high score in 3dmark ? the answer is noting

Because I'm comparing AMD current architecture vs Intel current architecture

K10 is not out yet, so why should I compare Intel to it ?

And if you think that it is unfair to compare Core architecture to K8 because K8 is older, then it is unfair to compare K8 to NetBurst because NetBurst was designed in 2000

Thats according to your logic anyway

yes.

Don't you want your computer to be fast?

bah, ask the guys who are working to break records what the benifit is for them.
Better still, ask yourself what the benefit of having a fast PC at all is.

for most people (especially on forums like this), the answer is: it's fun to have.

But for just about anybody else (people who basically use a PC for email etc), a 3600+ will be much more than enough.

Not exactly current when K10 is around the corner.

Why did you bring up Intel's future processors above?

Yeah, it is.

But the thing is, Intel did follow Netburst for much longer than they should have. Despite having the resources and ability to go the more efficient route earlier on.

There are processors that get lower scores in 3dmark but performs better in gaming and in real world applications.

There are video cards that score lower in 3dmarks but perform better in gaming.

So, having a higher score in 3dmark does not always mean that your computer is faster.

There is no review for K10

There is no benchmark for K10

We don't know the prices of Intel and AMD future processors

So, how you will compare them ?

What if it's your goal to get the best 3dmark score?

But it's often the only place you'll actually see a difference.

For now, by studying and comparing the architecture changes.

From what I've seen, I am estimating a 2.2GHZ K10 to compare with a 3GHZ K8

One of my points is, at the very least, you can't just ignore K10.
