one thing I can recommend you to do is, shop around!

NewEgg.com has that HDD for $120 shipped ($110 if you signed up for their news letter)

he can't... the Maximus Formula is Crossfire... he'd have to get two hd3870's which is way better than the 8800gt's in SLi

exactly, why change the Mb to a 680i with SLI when he can have one of the best MB's out right now with a cheaper video card setup that performs much better?

i still think you should get another 2 Gb's of ram, vista flies with it.

One more very critical peice of advise, dont do what i did. i bought my comp the day after all the sales ended, lost over 150$. half of that was MIR but still, it stung :(

Keep an eye on when the sales end, yes there will be other sales, but not on the same items, and you have 2-6 days gap in between sales. What you should do is buy the items that are on sale now, and maybe you will get lucky and the rest will go on sale by Jan.

Great choice on the 3870 paired with that X38, definitely get a second 3870 in the future for crossfire. That 5.1 surround sound system is sweet but consider the Logitech X-540, I'm getting it for Christmas and I saw it at best buy. It is a really good 5.1 system but for 70.00 instead of the 150+ you'd be paying for the G51, so you could save yourself some money there.

I'd be careful about the OS you select... you never know when you might wanna upgrade to 4 gigs of RAM down the road so maybe think about getting the 64-bit version of vista. I really hope that SP1 is out by the time you buy that though...

Also nice choice on the modular PSU I didn't know about modular PSU's when I bought mine and it would have made cable management much easier for me.

It looks like a pretty solid build. One last thing though, if you want to overclock that Q6600 then you'll be needing a good after market cooler like the Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120 (or TRUE 120 as a lot of people call it).
