found a laptop with 1920x1200 resolution on a 15" monitor now that would be unreadable text

This stuff is true about the resolutions, but wouldnt it be possible to switch to a lower res?

not easily as the native resolution has the best image quality the non-native resolutions lead to discrepancies

Don't know what discrepancies means but he's right, monitors look best on the native res.

my cousin has his 19" set to 1280x1024 as he only has onboard gfx, its soooo blurry

its the native for 4:3 ratio 19inch. 1440x900 is widescreen

Oh i didnt realize u were talking about widescreen, couldnt u set that to another 16:10 res. instead of stretching 1280x1024, that must look FUGLY.
