Ive been looking into a widescreen monitor lately, but I cant really seem to find any real advantages with it (atleast for gaming). Basically the way I understand it, is it is either going to run in 16:9, which would simply stretch the image on the monitor. Or, when you are playing a PC game, does it actually give you more peripheral visibility? I dont understand. One negative aspect is that it requires more CPU power to run it..?

Can somebody fill me in here?

Thanks
Joe

A widescreen monitor doesn't require more CPU power, but it does require a recent video card.

Everything soon is going to be widescreen...computers, TV's...everything.

most games that support it will show more on the screen than it normally would, not just stretch it if that's what you're thinking. i made the switch and i can say it's definitely nice for multitasking and dvd watching. the gaming took me some time to get used to.

Widescreen is frickin' sweet. Get it if you have the money because like talldude said, everything is gonna be widescreen soon and you will be happy you bought it. Here is the one I have and it is amazing:

SCEPTRE 22" Widescreen
