^there really is not need to go threw the trouble. You usually only do that when taking off thermal paste.

The fact is that you can lap all the cover off that heatsink right down to the copper and then polish it up! That is what "real" OCers do!!!! (Notwithstanding the voiding of the warrenty).

I usually dip the cpu in nacho cheese before licking it. After all it is a chip...

Like most people said it does not really matter but coffee filter and alcohol.
