Simply put. You have RAID 1 and RAID 0 or combinations of those. 1 is mirroring which will have one HD mirror the other and back up data. This results in a loss of performance. RAID 0 is striping which means both disks handle data simultaneously and results in a performance increase.
I would get another drive like the one you have spec'd and put it in a RAID 0. I love my RAID setup! The load animation as Windows is booting goes across once and I'm to my desktop. Games like FEAR and Farcry load very fast, so it's definately worth a little extra money IMHO.
