6600 will do you better I think. It has 8 pipes, the 9600 only has 4 if I remember right...

Why arent you just choosing a card and sticking w/ it. If you dont get it as soon as you knwo you want it you will always be changing your mind.

THANKS FOR THE NEWS FLASH. I ALSO HEAR THE 7900GTX IS ALSO BETTER TOO! WITH EVEN BETTER DRIVERS!!! PERHAPS HE SHOULD GET THAT?

I'd prefer getting the 6600 since the 6 series cards are newer. My friend has the same Asus 6600 and he plays most games on 1280x1024 quite well, his brother owns a 9600XT and yeah, he plays the same games on 1024x768 :P

No questions asked, go with the 6600 for sure. 4 more pipelines and SM3 (as oppose to SM2 on the Radeon). The Radeon is just older too. Remember that the Radeons were at the same level and competing with the GeForce 5s, so obviously a 6 series card would blow away any 9xxx card. If you had shown me a 5700 vs a 9600, I would have definatley told you to go ATi, but that's not the case. ATi kicked so much Nvidia arse back then with its 9xxx series.

I still reccomend that you shoot a bit higher though if you want to keep up to date with your gaming performance. Go for a 6800GS if you can.

Already been there w/ the GS vs the X1600pro. He just wants something cheap not to mention he has a 300watt PSU.
