9600GT requirements

i was just looking at the BFG 9600GT fairly good price, not as good as the 8800GT i hear, but only by a fraction. and its better to SLI.

it didnt specify on the box, or cant find it online, but does it need an SLI board to run it? or just a single PCI-e slot with the right power.

You can get a SLI board if you plan on doing SLI later on. But if you don't plan on doing that, then a SLI is not needed for one 9600gt.

also wondering if my 450 watt power supply is enough. benchmark says idle power for the card is 90 watts, top end 170. but all my other crap needs its power too and i cant be bothered to work it all out.

It depends also how many amps are on the 12v rails. Those 9600gt I think need like 28 amps or more. So you may need a new PSU.
