anything above 60% and it sounds like a hair drier. I have all my fans on my 900 at high and if i go above 60% i can hear the card.

Which program would be best to adjust my current 7800gt's fan?

riva tuner, it was mentioned earlier.
If your temps are fine, just stick with the stock cooler...

Can't believe no one has mentioned this yet. The mounting holes are the same as the old 7900 design. This means older fans will fit.

Currently, the best performing cooler for the 8800GT for the money is the Accelero S1. It does very well as a 100% silent passive cooling solution, or you can strap a 120mm fan to it and get some extremely good results.
