The price difference between the 256 and 512 is what, around 50 bucks? Personally if you plan on getting a bigger monitor in the future, you would be better served by getting the 512.

Yeah i was on a budget when i got mine, but i have the money now for the 512mb. I may buy it, and sell this one.

Thanks for your replies. So essentially 256MB is sufficient for my target resolution of 1440x900, but for higher resolutions, and maybe for future games, 512MB can make a difference. I can afford the larger memory, and I want this card to last me a good couple of years, so 512MB is the way to go.

However the fan on the Asus card looks cheap. Should I get another brand? Maybe EVGA?

I usually go with xfx or evga. Evga has a lifetime warranty i believe.

Evga and xfx both warranty a card for life, but xfx will warranty it on a 2nd owner.

I just got my new monitor today and playing at 1680x1050 i still get 90fps, never drops below 50.

Yep, both good choices. PNY and BFG are also oft-quoted.

EVGA do offer warranty, even after oveclocking, which is nice, and have the step up programme, but aren't such a good choice if you are in the EU.
