I think it's the same as the core, which is 600.

In ATI video cards the shader speed and clock speed are the same

In Nvidia 8 series video cards, they run at different speeds. For example, the clock speed of 8800GTX is 575MHz but the shader speed is 1.35GHz

just found out on wikipedia.org about the Pro speeds:

Radeon HD 2900 Pro is clocked lower at 600 MHz core and 800 MHz memory (1600 MHz effective).

800 MHz??!!! that is freakin low!! What does 1600 MHz effective mean then?

It means 1600MHz in DDR mode

DDR memory can do two instructions per clock, so this means 800MHz would have an effective clock rate of 1600MHz

so how is this comparative to the 8800 GT or GTS then? Depending on which one is so called "faster" in clocks.

im not sure about the gt's core/mem clock but i believe they are talking about shader clocks which are separate from the core and memory clocks.

the gts has a core speed 500 mhz and a memory speed of 800 mhz (1600 mhz effective) while the r600 has a core clock of 740 mhz and a memory clock of 800 mhz (1600 effective).

however i don't know what the shader clocks are for the r600.

ya n the biggest downfall of the R600 is because of the MHz speed of the shaders, even though it has 320. If the shader frequency was higher, then it could have better competition with the 8800 GTS.
