8800 in a pci-e 4x?

Its the same size as a pci-e16x, but it maxes out at 4x mode. The answer is yes. Thanks. Now lock the thread. Its over. Done. Goodbye. And it will bottleneck in some applications, but (according to tom's hardware) not most games made before 2004, so ill still be good for css and whatnot. But is garunteed to be an improvement over my 6800.

dude that is a PCI E 16x slot not a 4x it just runs at a 4x bandwidth

it got 4 pages long because everyone is confused on what your asking here do you have a PCI E 4x slot (the small one) or a PCI E 16x slot?
 
It'll work, just won't be as powerful as it can be, but it will still be a huge improvement over your 6800, go for it.
