Hello everyone,

This is for a co-worker of mine.
He has a budget of $800 for a gaming pc.
Here are the parts that I believe he needs (Cpu, mobo, gpu, ram, hdd, case, optical, psu)
He would like to play the latest games probably in high settings, but no need to max out, as long as they look better than a ps3/360.
We have a microcenter next to us so if you could suggest me any parts from there that would work as well unless we can get it cheaper elsewhere.
And also if you could show me AMD with ATI and Intel with Nvidia builds.
Please let me know if you need any more info
Thanks

Better than PS3/360, easy.

AMD build, not gonna happen. No point in getting their CPUs with that kind of budget and their worthwhile GPUs that I usually recommend in that range have been marked up due to availability. For instance, the R9 280x is supposed to be 299 bucks, but is now over 400. So in that case if you don't mind me not wasting my time.

Since you have a Microcenter there see if they have any good CPU/motherboard deals as those seem to be their best. Doesn't need an i7 at all but if you could have a Haswell i5 combo cheaper than Newegg go ahead and do it.
You can also change the case to something he likes as I left some room for that. I just chose something cheap because the 200r is out of stock.
