Yes, it only affected a few sizes (the 320GB mostly, I believe) and was only a sporadic issue. It was NEVER an issue for "almost all of them" as you implied. He would do great with a 500GB 7200.11 drive, because as vernong posted once, they compare and beat raptors in some areas. Especially if you partition the drive efficiently you can get extremely fast OS performance.
