right i was just looking on a website at some 8800GT's(640mb) and the core clock and memory are almost the same as my 7950GT!? does that mean if i got a 8800GTs 640mb i wouldnt see much of a difference in my games?
Its literally like 100-200 difference in the memory clock, core is about the same :umm: so on paper there wouldnt be any improvement for me(fps wise) obviously dx10 would be the improvement

well...the 7950gt to start off, still utilizes pipeline architecture. While it is still great, 24 pipelines will never equal the newer 96 stream processors. Saying this, an 8800GTS will outperform in Dx9 games....and as for DX10...i guess you can make that decision.

Yes and the stream processors operate at 1.2GHz for GTS at stock

Do you think id get much of a fps increase in my dx9 games on winxp?(namely Battlefield 2142, Farcry, Oblivion elder scrolls)

Yes you should get better fps

However, I recommend to wait for 8900 series, because 7950GT performs well on the current games
